Electro scooter Ola S1 Features:
Both the variants come equipped with an all-LED illumination, a massive 36-litre underseat storage, TFT instrument cluster with smartphone, Bluetooth, GPS and Wifi connectivity. Other features include side-stand-down and anti-theft alert, geo-fencing, reverse mode, Get Home Mode, Take Me Home Lights and a Limp Home Mode.
The S1 Pro variant comes equipped with extra goodies such as a hill-hold function, voice assist, and cruise control. This variant also comes with multiple profiles, and a sound system to imitate a petrol-powered scooter, similar to the Revolt RV 400. However, currently, most of the features aren’t available to customers and will be added later via OTA updates.
Ola S1 Powertrain:
The Ola S1 and the S1 Pro are powered by a permanent magnet motor producing a peak power of 8.5kW and a peak torque of 58Nm (at the shaft). The S1 Pro gets a higher top speed of 115kmph whereas the S1 gets a restricted top speed of 90kmph. The motor is linked to a 2.98kWh or a 3.97kWh lithium-ion battery pack with a claimed range of 121km and 181km respectively. The e-scooters can be charged using a home charger in 4 hours, 48 minutes (6.5 hours for the S1 Pro). Ola’s Hypercharger network is capable of offering a 75km range in 18 minutes of charging.
Ola S1 Suspension And Brakes:
The Ola S1 is undermined by a tubular frame with the curved battery pack mounted on the floorboard. Its suspension features a single-sided fork and monoshock with a single-sided swingarm. For braking, it gets a 220mm front and a 180mm rear disc with standard CBS. It comes with a generous 165mm of ground clearance. It rolls on large 12-inch alloy wheels wrapped with 110-section rubber at both ends. The e-scooter is slightly heavy as the base variant tips the scales at 121kg kerb and the S1 Pro at 125kg kerb.
Ola S1 Rivals:
The Ola S1 competes with the TVS iQube Electric, Bajaj Chetak, and the Ather 450 Plus. The more premium Ola S1 Pro goes up against the Ather 450X and the Simple One. For a similar price, you could get the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, Yamaha FZ25, Hero XPulse 200 and the Suzuki Gixxer SF. For around the price of the S1, you could opt for the Yamaha FZ-Fi, Bajaj Pulsar NS125, or the Aprilia SR 125.
