Harley-Davidson, Inc. is an American motorcycle manufacturer headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States. In 1901, 20-year-old William S. Harley drew up plans for a small engine. Over the next two years, he and his childhood friend Arthur Davidson worked on their motor-bicycle using the northside Milwaukee machine shop at the home of their friend Henry Melk. It was finished in 1903 with the help of Arthur’s brother Walter Davidson. In 1906, Harley and the Davidson brothers built their first factory on Chestnut Street. On July 11, 2008, Harley-Davidson announced they had signed a definitive agreement to acquire the MV Agusta Group. On October 15, 2009, Harley-Davidson announced that it would divest its interest in MV Agusta.
