H&M Clothes and Accessories

H&M – The company was founded in 1947 by Erling Persson when he opened his first store in Vesteros, Sweden. The store was called Hennes (Swedish for “her”) and sold only women’s clothing. Another store opened in Norway in 1964. In 1968 Persson acquired Mauritz Widforss, a Stockholm-based company that sold hunting clothing, which led to the inclusion of a menswear collection and the name was changed to Hennes & Mauritz.

Known for its “fast fashion” business model, H&M sells clothing, accessories and home goods. The company has a significant global presence, operating thousands of stores in 75 geographic markets and employing more than 100,000 employees worldwide.

H&M is the second largest international apparel retailer after Inditex. Concept stores including COS, Weekday, Monki and Cheap Monday were launched following H&M’s expansion in Asia. In 2009 and 2010, brand consultancy Interbrand recognized H&M as the twenty-first most valuable global brand. Its value was estimated at between $12 billion and $16 billion. As part of the “H&M with Friends” program, H&M has partnered with Good American, a brand founded by Khloe Kardashian and Emme Grede, to feature their products in H&M’s Swedish and German e-commerce stores. In 2017, H&M founded a new concept store Arket.
